lorenzoLorenzo studied at Box hill TAFE (1998-2000) as a performance major (electric guitar) and took composition lessons under the guidance of Lachlan Wilson and Tomasz Spiewak. Later he completed his Bachelor of Teaching at Melbourne University (2001-2002) under the direction of Rosalind McMillan. Much of Lorenzo’s success as a performing musician has been in performance venues. He has performed with numerous theatre companies, is a member of the Ross Irwin Big band, popular jazz group Mo’Joe as well as being available as a freelance musician. To add to this, Lorenzo has performed with numerous international artists including Randy Brecker, Allen Vizutti, Jim Pugh, Eijiro Nakagawa and popular Hollywood film composer and arranger Bill Broughton.

Since completing his Bachelor of Teaching, Lorenzo has been studying composition full time at the University of Melbourne (2003- present) under Brenton Broadstock and Stuart Greenbaum. To date, Lorenzo has had several works performed for varieties of instruments and ensembles and has received much positive feedback. He was a finalist in theSibelius Student Composition Contest (2003) and also in the Australian Guitar Composition Competition (2004) and recently succeeded in a competition held by the Victorian Youth Symphony Orchestra which saw the first public performance of his recent orchestral work Emerging(2005).

As well as having been a guitar tutor for many years, Lorenzo’s experience has also led to several experiences as a copyist, transcriber and arranger. Lorenzo is now nearing the end of his undergraduate studies at the University of Melbourne and is now working towards postgraduate studies (also majoring in composition).
