Rompduo - Barry Cockcroft and Adam Pinto share a passion for new works, particularly Australian music. Since forming in 2000, rompduo has given regular premieres and continually encourage composers to write for them. Together they have made a significant impact upon the development of Australian concert music for saxophone & piano. Barry Cockcroft studied in Bordeaux, France and since then travelling has become an integral part of his musical life. His innovative compositions are amongst Australia’s most performed pieces for saxophone and he has played with various orchestras in Australia and Malaysia. Adam Pinto, pianist and composer, maintains a busy performing schedule both as chamber musician and soloist. He has been broadcast regularly and performs in new music festivals throughout Australia. The creation of new works is important to rompduo and they believe strongly in touring, promoting, publishing and recording these compositions. This year, the duo released two CDs including Crazy Logic, a recording of new concert works and Hinterland, a recording of exclusively Australian Works. In 2007 rompduo participated in a 3 month residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts, Canada.
