“The fifteen pieces chosen for this CD celebrate the surprising diversity of new Australian flute music. It will be of particular interest to flute teachers and students but we also think it's a lovely selection of Australian composers' ‘miniature’ pieces, of interest to the discerning music lover. We only included pieces that we enjoy playing!"

Barry's Cockcroft's piece Rock Me! is now available in our online store. Written for American saxophonist Kenneth Tse in 2007, this advanced piece calls for great feats of saxophone dexterity! Rapid quasi-slap tonguing, distortion like an electric guitar, a drum solo performed entirely on the mouthpiece and occasionally even some standard saxophone notes. Complex for sure but a guaranteed crowd pleaser.

The 16th World Saxophone Congress will take place in St. Andrews, Scotland in 2012. Reed Music composer and saxophonist Barry Cockcroft has been elected to the International Saxophone Committee along with Claude Delangle (France), Kenneth Tse (USA), Andy Scott (UK), Shyen Lee (Thailand) and Thomas Liley (USA). Reed Music offers its congratulations to Richard Ingham (UK), director of the next congress and is looking forward to offering its support for this important event.
The university town of St Andrews is an exceptionally attractive location for an event of this sort. The university's beautiful main concert hall seats nearly 1000 and there are convenient rehearsal facilities, a wide variety of performance venues of all sizes, and plentiful accommodation and restaurants all within easy walking distance in this charming and ancient coastal town. The congress proposal is supported by the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, other UK conservatoires such as the Royal College of Music, The Royal Northern College of Music, the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, leading soloists and composers, the National Saxophone Choir of Great Britain and the Clarinet and Saxophone Society of Great Britain. The World Saxophone Congress coincides with the University’s 600th anniversary celebrations and with the Olympic Games in London.

Reed Music composers Barry Cockcroft and Adam Pinto have just arrived for the 15th International Saxophone Congress in Bangkok Thailand. Held in a new location every 3 years, this significant gathering of saxophonists features concerts, lectures, information sessions and a chance to meet composers, performers and researchers of the highest calibre.
Barry will be performing his composition 'Rock Me!' for solo alto saxophone followed by 'Crazy Logic' for alto saxophone and piano by Sydney composer Matthew Orlovich. Barry will be joined by Perth pianist Adam Pinto who will also be performing with New Zealand saxophonist Mark Hobson. Other Reed Music publications being featured at the conference include a performance by English saxophonist and composer Tony Davis of Barry Cockcroft's 'Ku Ku' played on tenor saxophone. Mark Hobson will be playing Maria Grenfel's 'Time Transfixed' for soprano saxophone and piano.
Reed Music will be appearing at 'Sounds Great!' the Victorian statewide music education conference. 'Sounds Great!' is an extensive professional learning event that consists of inspiring keynote address, exemplary student performances, practical and theoretical breakout sessions, a gala concert, trade exhibition and social activities. This event runs from July 16th-19th 2009.
Reed Music composers Sam Seabrook and Barry Cockcroft will be in attendance at the trade display and all visitors to our stand can pick up a complimentary book from Sam's Australian Band Method, Band Class 1.
