Dr Ros McMillan AM is an Australian music educator, author and composer whose teaching career spans more than fifty years. As the first Australian Yamaha teacher she has worked with students of every age, from three-year-olds to teacher-trainees, and served as Director of Music at Melbourne’s Presbyterian Ladies’ College. She taught music education for two decades at the University of Melbourne, retiring as Head of Music Education in 2005 and continuing as an Honorary Senior Fellow. She has published seven school music texts with distribution exceeding 13,000 and curriculum materials used internationally. Ros has presented workshops and papers across every Australian state and territory and in countries including Canada, the USA, Korea, South Africa, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, China, Greece and Hong Kong. She was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2019.
