Katia Beaugeais

Vandoren Paris and Selmer Saxophone Artist, Katia Beaugeais, is an award-winning French-Australian saxophonist and composer whose music has been performed in America, Canada, Croatia, Slovakia, Austria, Scotland, Ireland, England, France, Peru, Taiwan, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand. Beaugeais is currently working on a PhD in Composition on the dual role of a composer-performer at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Education Composer Resource Kit for the Australian Music Centre, new piece for the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s Hush Foundation CD, First Light at Uluru for the Royal Australian Navy Band’s CD with world-renowned didgeridoo player, William Barton, recording new Australian saxophone music, solo recital and premiere of her saxophone orchestra music at the 2018 World Sax Congress in Croatia and Royal College of Music Saxophone Orchestra concert in London.

Performance and composition highlights include: winning the prestigious 2010 ISCM/IAMIC International Society for Contemporary Music Young Composer Award; guest soloist-composer with 100 saxophones; Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, England; Selmer Saxophone Showrooms in Paris and Australian Embassy in Zagreb; performing her own saxophone concerto Terra Obscura for broadcast on ABC Classic FM; invited on a panel with the legendary Jean-Marie Londeix at the World Saxophone Congress in France; Boulevard des Productions Strasbourg TV; 2011/2013 Zagreb Biennale in Croatia; First Light at Uluru for saxophone orchestra premiered in Strasbourg, Paris and England.

Beaugeais’s music has been performed by Ensemble Zeitfluss (Austria), Elly Bašić Music School (Croatia), Halcyon, Queensland and Sydney Conservatorium saxophone orchestras, Grevillea Ensemble with guest artist Yvette Goodchild, Sydney Symphony Fellowship players, Queensland Symphony Orchestra composer workshop, First Light at Uluru wind symphony premiere performances at the 2016 ANBOC Festival, Adelaide Wind Orchestra and Texas Woman’s University Wind Symphony.

Beaugeais teaches composition and chamber ensembles at the Sydney Conservatorium.
