Matthew Orlovich

Born in Sydney, Australia in 1970, Matthew Orlovich studied music composition (B.Mus Hons 1993, PhD. 2000) with Eric Gross and Peter Sculthorpe. His compositions include music for solo instrumentalists, chamber groups, a cappella choirs, symphony orchestras and accompanied choirs.

Matthew's music has been performed extensively throughout Britain, Europe, Canada and the USA, as well as in Australia. Performers include: Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, The Australian Boys' Choir, The Australian Voices, Australian Intervarsity Choral Festival Choirs, The Zurich Ensemble for New Music, The Harvard University Choir, The Brisbane Chamber Choir, Yvonne Lau (pianist), The Brisbane Chorale, Canberra Youth Singers, The Melbourne Chorale, Cantus, Combined Sydney College Choirs and Orchestra, The Contemporary Singers, The Seymour Group, 1997 NSW Combined School Choirs and Public School Symphony Orchestra, The Ronald Dowd Summer School Contemporary Choral Group, St Andrew's Cathedral School, Sydney: (Massed choirs, orchestra, organ and soloists), St Olaf Cantorei, St Peters Chorale, The Song Company, Sydney Conservatorium Chorale, The Grevillea Ensemble, Oriana Chorale, The Hunter Singers, and many more.

Matthew's scores are published by Alfred Music, Morton Music, The Keys Press, Reed Music and The Australian Music Centre.

Matthew's recent commissions include a new work entitled "White Horses" for Symphonic Wind Ensemble (published by Reed Music), as well as new works for Oriana Chorale (ACT), the 60th Australian Intervarsity Choral Festival (TAS), In Harmony Choir (NSW) and the Sydney Conservatorium Chamber Choir.
